TRIAL LESSONS

Your first flight, with full controls handover

A trial lesson is a real flying lesson — not a sightseeing flight. Your instructor briefs you on the ground, then hands you the controls in the air for straight-and-level flight, turns, and (where conditions allow) climbing and descending.

Gift Vouchers Available

Buy a trial lesson as a gift voucher — valid for 12 months and redeemable against any trial lesson option.

Duration

30 or 60-minute flight options, plus ~30 minutes for briefing, paperwork and a post-flight debrief.

Aircraft

Flown in our Cessna 152 — a stable, forgiving two-seat training aircraft ideal for first flights.

Weather Policy

If weather prevents flying, your lesson is rescheduled free of charge — no time limit on rebooking.

What to Expect

Arrival briefing, aircraft walk-around, take-off by your instructor, then the controls are yours.

FLIGHT TRAINING

Structured training, built around your goals

Whether you're aiming for a full Private Pilot Licence, an NPPL, building hours, or returning to flying after a break — your training plan is mapped from day one and tracked on your dashboard.

PPL(A) — Private Pilot Licence

The most comprehensive route to flying privately, including night rating eligibility and the broadest set of privileges. A minimum of 40 hours flight instruction (35 hours if completed on an approved ATO course), including 10 hours supervised solo with at least 5 hours solo cross-country (one flight of at least 270km/150NM with full-stop landings at 2 other aerodromes). 9 theory subjects across 9 exams, plus a skills test with an examiner. Minimum age 17, Part-MED Class 2 medical required. Theory exams are valid for 24 months.

Estimated hours: 40 hrs (35 hrs at an ATO)  |  From: £195/hr (1:1 flying)

NPPL — National Private Pilot Licence

Since 1 October 2025, the new NPPL has replaced both the old NPPL(A) and LAPL(A) as the standard UK-only sub-ICAO route into recreational flying. A minimum of 32 hours flight time including 10 hours solo (at least 4 hours solo cross-country, with a qualifying flight of 150km/80NM and a full-stop landing away from base). Exams cover 5 subjects (Air Law, Human Performance, Meteorology, Navigation and Aircraft General Knowledge), plus Communications if you don't already hold an FRTOL. Training can start from age 14, solo from 16, licence held from 17 — only a Pilot Medical Declaration is required. Note: valid for UK-registered aircraft in UK airspace only.

Estimated hours: 32+ hrs  |  From: £185/hr (1:1 flying)

Hour Building

Already licensed and need to build hours for a rating, job application, or insurance requirement? Book solo or dual hour-building flights with flexible scheduling, subject to currency and weather minima.

From: £165/hr

Refresher Training

For pilots returning after a break in flying. We'll assess your currency, refresh handling skills, airfield procedures and radio work, and get your licence privileges back up to date.

From: £195/hr
